There is a moment every first generation Jamaican knows… Someone asks where you are from. You pause โ€” not because you don’t know the answer, but because the answer is complicated. You are from Jamaica, AND you are from here. And somehow you are still explaining that.
That pause between two worlds is exactly where JAH was born.

From Yard to Here
JAH stands for Jamaicans At Heart. It means you grew up eating ackee and saltfish on a Saturday morning in a house that smelled like home โ€” even though home was technically a different country. It means your parents sacrificed everything to give you a better life, and you carry that every single day with pride, grief, and gratitude.
In Canada, in the UK, in the United States โ€” you are seen as the immigrant and then you go back to Jamaica and they call you a FOREIGNER – with a big dash of shame. You belong fully to neither place. That feeling is real, it is valid, and it is shared by hundreds of thousands of first generation Jamaicans who never had a community that named it out loud. JAH names it out loud.

This Is Your Community
JAH is for the Jamaican in Toronto who hasn’t been back in years but still tears up at certain songs. For the one in London who makes jerk chicken every Sunday because it is the closest thing to home. For the one in Brooklyn whose kids were born here but know every word to No Woman No Cry.
Every product we make carries that feeling. The gold hummingbird โ€” Jamaica’s national bird, quick, resilient, and built to travel โ€” is not just a logo. It is a symbol of every first generation Jamaican who built a life in a new country without ever forgetting where they came from.
Both worlds made you. You belong to both.
No matter where life has taken you โ€” YOU Are STILL – Jamaican at heart.

Welcome home. JAH โ€” Jamaicans At Heart – Jahlife.ca
